Biography
James Robert Chandler arrived in 1860 and spent the next nine decades turning silence into drama. He rode across the silent-screen frontier in *Quick Triggers* (1928), tracked mystery through *The Avenging Arrow* (1921), and first stepped before a camera for *Things Are Seldom What They Seem* (1912). His final curtain fell on 16 March 1950 in East Islip, New York, where the lights dimmed on a life lived in flickers and shadows.
