Biography
Born under the twin-spired skyline of Budapest on 15 June 1876, Jean Hathaway crossed an ocean and a language barrier to light up early American screens. Between flickers of silence, she gave breath to The Master Key (1914), cracked the whip through The Adventures of Peg o’ the Ring (1916), and turned a weather-beaten barn into pure movie magic in 1919. Off-camera, she shared her life—and her scripts—with fellow traveler Rhody Hathaway. The final curtain fell on 23 August 1938 in Los Angeles, but the glow of her celluloid ghosts still dances.
