Biography
Jennie Lee first drew breath on 4 September 1848 amid the sawdust and riverboat whistles of Sacramento, California. By the time flickering images learned to tell stories, she had stepped in front of the camera, lending her presence to The Birth of a Nation (1915), The Children Pay (1916), and Hearts of Oak (1924). Off-screen she shared her life with fellow performer William Courtright. Her final curtain fell on 5 August 1925 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, where the lights that once captured her likeness kept glowing long after she had gone.
