Biography
Before talkies had found their voice, J.L.V. Leigh was already etching cinema history in light and shadow. In 1915 he steered the camera on Ultus, the Man from the Dead, inviting audiences to chase a resurrected enigma across the screen. Three years later, he unveiled The Key of the World (1918), turning a single object into the linchpin of global suspense. Not content to rest, Leigh closed the decade with Pallard the Punter (1919), a tale that let the racetrack’s thunder echo through British picture houses.
