Biography
County Meath greeted Joe Moore’s first cry on 22 November 1894, and before the century turned he had already begun trading Irish pastures for California spotlights. Between 1920 and 1926 he slipped through the flickering world of silent cinema—dueling for affection in Love’s Battle, chasing comedic runaway goats in Goat Getter, and tangling with intrigue in The Golden Web. Off-screen he shared his life with actress Grace Cunard, their marriage a private reel running parallel to his public performances. Moore’s story ended as abruptly as a film cut-out: he died in Santa Monica on 22 August 1926, barely two months after the premiere of The Golden Web, leaving behind only the bright, silent images that still dance across the screen.
