Biography
October 18, 1879, marked the first breath of Johanne Fritz-Petersen on Danish soil; half a century later, her own breath would give life to the silent screen. Between 1915 and 1916 she stepped before the camera three seismic times: as the tormented soul of *The Heart of Lady Alaine*, the royal pulse of *Prinsessens Hjerte*, and a witness to cosmic collapse in *The End of the World*. When the final curtain fell on December 22, 1961, Denmark closed the book on an actress who had once let the whole world speak without uttering a single word.
