Biography
A Kentucky Christmas baby of 1875, John B. Hymer left Bowling Green for the footlights and the flicker of early Hollywood. Between curtain calls he spun stories that reached the screen as the silent-era romance East Is West (1922), the bootlegger comedy Alias the Deacon (1927), and the courtroom melodrama Scarlet Pages (1930). Off-set he shared his life with actress Eleanor Kent. Six decades after his December birth, he closed the final act in Los Angeles on 17 June 1953.
