Biography
A Christmas-baby from the sidewalks of Manhattan, John Davidson stepped onto the stage circuit just as nickelodeons were muttering into talkies. Between 1933 and 1941 he survived cliff-hanging trains, cursed scarabs, and masked arch-villains, lending hawk-nosed authority to *Perils of Pauline*, *Adventures of Captain Marvel*, and *Dick Tracy vs. Crime, Inc.*—three serials that still crackle with Saturday-matinee electricity. After the final reel he traded fedoras for California sunshine, dying quietly in Los Angeles on 16 January 1968, leaving behind a celluloid trail of cliffhangers and cape-swirls.
