Biography
Barnsbury, London, 16 June 1865: the curtain rose on John Kelt. For three decades he stalked the boards and later the silent screen, lending his hawk-like profile to The Man Who Won (1918), The Bridal Chair (1919) and, most famously, the bibulous chaos of The Adventures of Mr. Pickwick (1921). When the final reel flickered out, he withdrew to Kensington, where on 9 March 1935 the lights dimmed for good.
