Biography
A Donegal winter greeted John MacAndrews in 1864, and the Atlantic winds that scoured his birthplace would one day echo in the timbre of his stage voice. By 1915 he had stepped before the camera, giving life to Barnaby Rudge’s restless energy; the following year he slipped into Restoration finery for Trelawny of the Wells; and in 1920 he pressed the magical brass of Alf’s Button. The footlights dimmed for good on 2 December 1926 in Lambeth, London, but the reels still spin, keeping MacAndrews forever in motion.
