Biography
Joseph Manning entered the world on 4 June 1870 amid the clamor of New York City and grew into a performer whose silhouette flickered across nickelodeon screens. Audiences first felt his pull in 1914’s The Man Who Disappeared, felt it again the next year in Little Pal, and caught a final, ghostly glimpse in 1920’s The Screaming Shadow. Sixty-six summers after his first breath, the Pacific tides claimed him in Santa Monica, California, on 31 July 1946.
