Biography
Before the talkies ever drew breath, Juan Argelagués was already busy etching shadows onto celluloid. In 1911 he steered the camera through the inheritance feud at the heart of Lucha por la herencia, then slipped south to Valencia’s fragrant groves for 1914’s La tierra de los naranjos. Eight years later he returned with El otro (1919), proving that even in silence, the man knew how to make two faces on one screen feel like an accusation.
