Biography
Born under a Georgia sun on 8 September 1893, Columbus native Justina Huff traded magnolia-scented afternoons for the flicker of early film. Within two years she embodied the tragic Tess in the 1913 adaptation of Tess of the D’Urbervilles, followed by the dark temptations of 1914’s The Root of Evil and the shadowy intrigue of 1916’s The Man Inside. After the klieg lights dimmed, she slipped into private life, settling in Philadelphia, where she died quietly on 29 June 1977.
