Biography
A cornerstone of the Danish stage and early silent cinema, Karl Mantzius entered the world in Copenhagen on February 20, 1860. As both a commanding actor and a visionary director, he became a pivotal figure in Denmark's artistic evolution, leaving his mark on the screen through notable productions such as 'Penge' (1915), 'Addys Ægteskab' (1916), and 'Pavilionens hemmelighed' (1916). His personal life saw him wed three times, sharing chapters of his life with Wanda Fride Augusta Mathiesen, Sara Beckett, and Soffy Waleen. After a lifetime dedicated to the dramatic arts, Mantzius passed away on May 17, 1921, in Frederiksberg.
