Biography
Klaswegian by birth—6 February 1909—Katherine Lee stepped from the chill Glasgow air into the glow of the silents before she turned seven. Between 1915 and 1918 she slipped through the flicker of three now-legendary reels: the crime-shocker The Bludgeon, the aquatic fantasy A Daughter of the Gods, and the patriotic one-reeler American Buds. Off-screen she took the hand of filmmaker Ray Miller as husband. Sixty-one autumns after her Scottish debut, on 22 October 1968, the lights dimmed for good in Flushing, New York, but the frames she left behind still dance.
