Biography
Born beneath Michigan’s autumn skies on 15 October 1890, Kathleen Butler traded the Great Lakes for the glow of kerosene-lit sets, carving a place in cinema’s infancy. Between 1913 and 1914 she slipped in and out of flickering tales—ringing *Her Wedding Bell*, forging *The Work Habit*, and braving island surf in *McVeagh of the South Seas*. Off-camera she shaped words as readily as gestures, writing stories that other actors would speak. More than six decades later, on 9 February 1978, her final curtain fell in Orlando, Florida, closing a life lived in the first glimmer of moving pictures.
