Biography
Born under the twin clocks of Budapest on 19 October 1884, Lajos Ujváry stepped straight from the Danube’s glittering edge onto the flickering silver sheet. Between 1917’s *Az egymillió fontos bankó* and 1937’s *A kölcsönkért kastély*, he shape-shifted through a silent-era kaleidoscope—most vividly as the man caught in limbo in 1919’s *Se ki, se be*. Off-camera, he shared his life with actress Flóra Fáy; together they navigated revolutions, talkies, and war. Ujváry took his final bow in the same city that had watched him open his eyes, closing them again on 10 December 1960.
