Biography
Silkeborg, Denmark, greeted the arrival of Lau Lauritzen on 13 March 1878, and from that quiet riverside town he would go on to craft some of Denmark’s earliest screen stories. Behind the camera he shaped *Manden der gøer* (1919), chased mystery through *Harestegen* (1921), and tiltted at windmills for his 1926 take on *Don Quixote*. Off-set, two marriages—first to Ulla Poulsen, later to Hulda Christensen—framed his private narrative. Copenhagen, the city that had become his professional home, closed his final reel on 2 July 1938.
