Biography
A baby christened Lee Kohlmar entered the world on 27 February 1873 in Forth, a tiny Bavarian dot now swallowed by Eckental, Germany. Stage and screen soon claimed him: he shaped performances and later called the shots from the director’s chair, leaving flickering footprints in Jewel Robbery (1932), the silent hurricane of Orphans of the Storm (1921), and the memory-haunting drama Forgotten (1933). Four decades after his Bavarian sunrise, he took his final bow in Hollywood, California, succumbing on 14 May 1946.
