Biography
April 8, 1890: a future face of Russian silent cinema arrives in a frost-edged Moscow. By twenty-five, Leonid Zhukov had already stepped before the camera, lending quiet gravity to Lyubov statskogo sovetnika (1915). Three years later, as revolution rocked the streets outside the studio, he confronted mortality itself in Kogda my, myortvye, voskresnem? (1918). The screen went dark for him on November 3, 1951, back in the city that had watched him draw his first breath.
