Biography
Born under the Basque sun on 3 November 1860, Lewis Waller first drew breath in Bilbao, then carried that Spanish spark onto the world’s stages and screens. Between treading the boards and crafting scripts, he conjured three cinematic landmarks: the Shakespearean short *King John* in 1899, the swashbuckling *Brigadier Gerard* in 1915, and the desert adventure *Fires of Fate* eight years later. Offstage, he shared his life with actress Florence West. The final curtain fell on 1 November 1915 in Nottingham, England, two days shy of his fifty-fifth birthday.
