Biography
Milan, 12 January 1896: the curtain rose on Lia Orlandini’s life. By the early 1950s she had become the quiet power behind the camera, lending gravity to *La voce del sangue* (1952), fire to *Lettera napoletana* (1954) and aching restraint to *Abbandono* (1940). Off-screen, she shared her days—and her name—with Ruggero Lupi. On 11 June 1979, in Bologna, the final lights dimmed, but the reels still spin.
