Biography
Chicago greeted Lillian Tucker on 21 September 1887, and by her late twenties she had traded Lake Michigan winds for klieg lights, slipping into silent-era frames that still flicker today. Audiences first noticed her in 1916’s *The Light That Failed*, then sprinted alongside her through the cliff-hanging serial *The Scarlet Runner* that same year. Five years later she lent quiet steel to the stage-to-screen comedy *What Every Woman Knows*. Off-camera she shared her life with producer Charles H. Duell. Her final curtain fell in Los Angeles on 1 March 1972, closing a story that began in the Midwest and ended under California palms.
