Biography
Lloyd B. Carleton first drew breath in 1872, then spent the next six decades conjuring stories onto flickering screens. Between 1914 and 1923 he steered three cornerstones of early cinema: the marital crucible of The Walls of Jericho, the snow-capped obsession of Mountain Madness, and the salt-streaked legend The Flying Dutchman. Producer, director, conjurer of moving shadows—Carleton’s final curtain fell on 8 August 1933 in New York City, the same metropolis that had once projected his dreams.
