Biography
La Crosse, Wisconsin, greeted Lottie Alter with January frost on the day she arrived—16 January 1871. She grew up to trade small-town winters for the bright hiss of klieg lights, stepping before the camera for An Arizona Romance in 1910, then lending her presence to The Eternal City in 1915 and The Lottery Man the following year. Off-screen she shared her life with actor Harry C. Bradley. On Christmas Day 1924, while snow fell on Beechhurst, Queens, the curtain quietly closed; she was 53.
