Biography
Toronto, 9 June 1895: Lottie Pickford enters the world already shadowed by footlights. By fourteen she’s facing Edison’s cameras in A Strange Meeting, and by twenty she’s Fanchon, dancing across 1915 screens while audiences learn to spell her surname. Between those milestones she haunts Biograph sets, trades lines with Mary’s kid sister, and watches white roses wilt on cue in a one-reeler shot in Fort Lee’s winter mud. Off-camera she collects surnames the way others collect ticket stubs—Lock, Gillard, Forrest, Rupp—each marriage a new act in a private serial no studio would dare release.
