Biography
Louis Morrell entered the world in 1873 and, before the First World War had even tightened its grip, had already slipped twice onto the silver screen: first as the light-fingered virtuoso of *The Master Cracksman*, then as the enigmatic heroine of *The Girl at the Lock*, both released in 1914. Seventy-two years after his birth, the curtain rang down for good on 11 July 1945 in Elgin, Illinois, the small American city that became his final stage.
