Biography
A broad Texan drawl entered the world with Macklyn Arbuckle on 9 July 1866, delivered in a San Antonio hospital room. From there he built twin careers: first as a stage and screen performer, later as a storyteller with a sharp comic eye. Filmgoers remember him for his turns in The County Chairman (1914), then racing through the sports yarn The Thoroughbred (1925) and the nostalgic romp That Old Gang of Mine (1925). Off-camera he shared life—and a surname—with Mrs. Macklyn Arbuckle, his steadfast partner. The curtain rang down on 1 April 1931 in Waddington, New York, but the silver nitrate keeps his grin alive.
