Biography
Marguerite Skirvin first drew breath on 4 November 1893 in the dust-blown frontier town of Oklahoma City. Within three short years she catapulted from prairie stages to the silver sheet, lighting up 1916 with a trio of one-reel whirlwinds—A Parisian Romance, Passers By, and The Lords of High Decision—before the era could even finish spelling “starlet.” Off-camera she collected surnames the way other people collected postcards, wedding first George Tyson, then Robert John Adams. Five decades later, on a quiet spring day, 26 March 1963, she closed her final scene in Bethesda, Maryland, leaving behind the flicker of her films and the echo of three different married names.
