Biography
Marie-Louise Derval first drew breath on a crisp autumn morning, 25 October 1884, amid the gas-lit boulevards of Paris. Within three decades she had stepped before the new-fangled camera, lending her quicksilver presence to *Chicot the Jester* (1913), then re-appearing in twin 1916 releases—*Suzanne* and the maritime mystery *Sous les phares*. Off-screen, she shared her life with fellow player Jacques Augustin Bourget. Paris, the city that witnessed her debut, also closed the curtain for her on 10 April 1965.
