Biography

A winter baby, Marjorie Brenner arrived in Brooklyn on 23 February 1893 and stepped straight into the glow of the footlights. Before the Great War had dimmed Europe’s lamps, she had already faced the cameras—first as the stalwart heroine of *The Seats of the Mighty* (1914), then as the quick-witted leading lady of *The Master Cracksman* that same year. A six-year pause separated her from her final screen appearance in the shadow-soaked melodrama *The Deep Purple* (1920). Off-screen, she pledged her heart to William H. Power. More than eight decades after her birth—just a week shy of her 86th birthday—she drew her last breath in sun-washed West Palm Beach, Florida, on 16 February 1979.
