Biography
A crisp autumn day—10 November 1887—marked the arrival of Marjorie Ellison in England, the quiet curtain-raiser for a life that would flicker across silent screens. Audiences first saw her face in 1914’s The Man Who Disappeared, followed by the shadowy intrigue of Through Turbulent Waters (1915) and the glittering menace of The Gilded Spider (1916). Off-camera, she shared her days—and eventually her name—with fellow performer Hayward Mack. Nearly two decades after swapping foggy London streets for California sunshine, she drew her final breath in Los Angeles on 13 January 1936, leaving the projectors to spin without her.
