Biography
Martha Hoffmann stepped before the camera when German cinema was still inventing itself: in 1914 she slipped into the second installment of *Die blaue Maus*, a serial that kept audiences returning to the picture palace. Seven years—and a world war—later she resurfaced in the dizzying roulette world of *Die Abenteuerin von Monte Carlo*, surviving both the Moroccan nights of episode two and the courtroom bombshells of episode three, *Der Mordprozeß Stanley*, all released in 1921. The reels still spin, preserving the fleeting electric presence of an actress whose off-screen story remains an unwritten title card.
