Biography
Mary Maurice traded the classroom for the footlights in 1868, launching her professional journey with the Pittsburgh Stock Company. After a seasoned and prestigious tenure on the stage, she transitioned to the nascent world of cinema in 1909 upon signing with Vitagraph. Over the following decade, she graced nearly 150 productions, becoming so synonymous with maternal and grandmotherly roles that she was affectionately dubbed the "Grand Old Lady of the Films." A cornerstone of the Vitagraph roster, she remained dedicated to her craft until just before her passing in 1918.
