Biography
Born in Copenhagen on the last day of July 1871, Mathilde Felumb Friis stepped onto the Danish silent screen while the medium itself was still learning to speak. Within a single year she conjured three early Nordic classics—Ungdomssynd (1914), En opstandelse and Lidenskabens Magt (both 1915)—then slipped back into private life, leaving only those flickering shadows to testify to her craft. She departed this world exactly seventy-four years and three months after her arrival, on 31 October 1945.
