Biography
On a spring Tuesday in 1835—22 March to be exact—Matt Snyder entered the world, little knowing his weather-beaten face would one day flicker across nickelodeon screens. Between 1914 and 1916 he breathed life into three early cinema landmarks: the wildflower romance Salomy Jane, the social-critique melodrama Money, and the desert epic The Garden of Allah. His final curtain fell in San Francisco on 17 January 1917, closing a life bookended by stagecoaches and spotlights.
