Biography
Gravesend, Kent, greeted Maud Milton’s first breath on 24 March 1859, and from that riverside town she sailed onto the stage, her talent steaming toward the dawn of British cinema. Audiences remember her as the restless wife in Damaged Goods (1914), the haunted woman eyeing The Criminal (1915), and the bewildered Earthling visited by A Message from Mars (1921). After the final curtain, she retreated to Ryde on the Isle of Wight, where she closed her eyes for the last time on 19 November 1945.
