Biography
Eleven summers after the century turned, Maurice Steuart arrived in the world on 11 July 1908. Before he could shave, he was already facing cameras, lending his wide-eyed charm to the silent era’s flickering dreams: he navigated the titled schemers of Vanity Fair (1915), wooed through the cliff-hung chapters of Gloria’s Romance (1916), and pulled off the breezy caper A Successful Adventure (1918). The lenses stopped rolling, the talkies arrived, but Steuart’s footprints stayed in the celluloid; he slipped out of the spotlight and, decades later, out of life itself on 28 March 1971 in Queens, New York.
