Biography
Max Barbier stepped before the camera only three times, yet each appearance left a tint of cobalt on the silent era: in 1915 he haunted the dunes of Sadounah, the following year he unravelled a backstage murder in L’affaire du Grand-Théâtre, and by 1917 he had slipped inside the sun-washed walls of La villa bleue, sealing his brief but vivid passport to film history.
