Biography
A winter’s child of 1859, Mévisto drew his first breath in the gas-lit heart of Paris. Within twenty years he had swapped the city’s cobblestones for the boards of the stage, letting his face do the talking long before cameras could whisper his name. Silent audiences still remember him as the secret-agent mastermind in Protéa (1913), the soot-grimed miner of Germinal (1913), and the lover who hid behind velvet and deceit in Le masque de l’amour (1918). When the final curtain fell on 4 January 1927, it fell in the same city where his story began, closing the circle on a life lived between flicker and footlight.
