Biography
On a crisp spring day in 1859, Goderich, Ontario, welcomed Millie Liston into the world. By her early fifties she had slipped effortlessly into the new art of flickering images, lending her stage magnetism to three now-legendary silents: Oliver Twist (1912), the white-slavery shocker Traffic in Souls (1913), and the aquatic epic A Daughter of the Gods (1916). Off-screen, she collected surnames the way others collect playbills—first Hudson, then Huffman, then Hudson again—marrying Thomas P. Hudson, Thomas Webb Huffman, and finally Hudson Liston. The final curtain fell on 20 February 1920, in New York City, the bright lights of Broadway dimming for one of their own.
