Biography
Born within sight of the Thames in 1877, Minna Grey grew up amid London’s gas-lit bustle and, before the Edwardian era closed, had already stepped before the cameras. Three surviving films preserve her flicker of immortality: Milestones and Altar Chains, both released in 1916, and the 1929 talkie The Woman in White, where her voice—low, precise—echoes through drawing-room shadows. Off-screen she wed solicitor Simeon Francis Jacobs; the marriage drifted into separate lives long before 1935, when she drew her final breath in a quiet Westminster flat, closing the curtain on 58 years spent almost entirely in the city that first watched her enter the world.
