Silent-film siren Miss Édith stepped before the camera in 1912, bewitching audiences as the calculating Olga in *Olga, the Adventuress* and again that same year in the occult tale *Le maléfice*. Three years later she slipped into Louis Feuillade’s shadowy Paris for *Les Vampires*, sealing her place in cinema’s first great crime saga.
