Biography
Bucharest, 24 July 1886: the curtain rises on Misu Fotino. By 1914 the camera has found him too, casting him as the lead in “Cetatea Neamţului,” the first flicker of a screen career that will stretch across six decades. Between wars and after them, he keeps the footlights glowing at Braşov’s Teatrul de Stat, turning every line into a living pulse. In 1955 he proves laughter is ageless, stealing scenes in “…Şi Ilie face sport,” a sprightly cameo that still makes archives smile. Off-stage he fathers another comic spark: Mihai Fotino, who will carry the family wit into the next act. The final blackout falls in Bucharest on 4 January 1970, but the reel keeps spinning, the boards still echo—Misu’s story refuses to leave the spotlight.
