Biography
On a winter’s day in 1866, Mortimer Martine drew his first breath in New York City; he would spend the next six-and-a-half decades lending his own breath to characters on screen. Between 1912 and 1915 he slipped into the skins of Fagin’s world in Oliver Twist, tangled with romantic rivals in The Other Girl, and navigated the shadowy docks of The Port of Missing Men. When the curtain finally fell in 1934, it lowered on the same streets where his story had begun.
