Biography
A Philadelphia native, Mrs. Lewis McCord stepped before the camera during the silent era’s infancy, animating stories when flickers still felt like magic. In 1915 she lit up The Chorus Lady, followed by The Heart of Nora Flynn in 1916 and the spook-laced comedy The Ghost House the next year. Off-screen she took the name of her husband, Lewis McCord. Her own story ended abruptly on 24 December 1917 in New York City, leaving behind a brief but bright reel of performances that still whisper through cinema’s earliest archives.
