Biography
A brisk Ontario autumn delivered her on 1 November 1861: Hamilton’s native daughter who would trade snowy streets for gas-lit stages. Under the married name Mrs. Stuart Robson she stepped before cameras early—The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1914) carried her voiceless performance to nickelodeons—then slipped into the marital farce of His Bridal Night (1919) and the redemptive melodrama of The Gates of Gladness (1918). Off-screen she shared both surname and life with Stuart Robson, her actor-husband. Forty-three years after that first Hamilton chill, she drew her final breath on 22 December 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky, leaving the footlights flickering in her absence.
