Biography
Mrs. Thomas Ward stepped before the camera at the dawn of feature-length storytelling, first registering on audiences in 1915’s “The Suburban.” Six years later she returned to the screen for “Ten Nights in a Bar Room,” tempering melodrama with quiet authority, and in 1926 she graced “Camille,” lending her poise to the tale’s glittering tragedy. Her final curtain fell on 27 January 1952 in New York City, the same metropolis that had once watched her light up silent frames.
