A May breeze carried Myrtle Tannehill into the world on the 18th of 1886, and she answered by stepping straight into the footlights. Two 1915 one-reelers—*The Barnstormers* and *When the Mind Sleeps*—captured her darting intelligence just as movies learned to talk without words. Decades later she reappeared on the fledgling small screen for *NBC Presents*, proving her craft had no expiration date. Off-camera, she shared her life with actor Hale Hamilton and, later, with an elusive Mr. Nichols whose first name time forgot.
