Biography
Swedish theologian, professor at the universities of Uppsala and Leipzig, and archbishop of Sweden from 1914 until his death. A pioneer of the ecumenical movement he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1930 "for promoting Christian unity and helping create that new attitude of mind which is necessary if peace between nations is to become reality". Söderblom also both wrote lyrics to and composed hymns.
